Are you that mom that……. takes a vacation day from work only to catch up on tasks that you have been behind on since the last time you took a vacation day! And the thought of relaxing at home, laying on the couch and catching up on the last season of “Scandal” is a thought that was only a reality BEFORE you had children. So you scream, WHY ME? Sounds familiar?
Between cooking, cleaning, playing nurse, and running errands; motherhood can sound like a prison sentence where freedom and relaxation are not apart of the plan. So what do you do? How can you function?
Being a mother is such a blessing, but there are times where a mom can feel like motherhood is a curse. We must know that it is OK to have moments where you feel like you are being punished. It shows that you are a human. The thing we should be aware of is that this moment is only temporary and can be decreased with simple, quick applications.
Read my quick tips on how to improve your sanity and minimize the feeling that motherhood is tough.
1. Get organized. Make a plan.
When you create an effective flow or a routine in your household, it can help you to quickly identify tasks that are necessary to perform. It also helps you to weed out the tasks that are only “time-wasters” or tasks that do not have to be done. Remember to create a routine that works for you and your family.
2. De-Stress and Breathe.
We hear the word “stress relief” and we begin to stress about thinking about the time that you have to put aside to…not stress! You can reduce stress just by simply taking deep breaths.
3. Identify why you became a mother.
We must regroup and think about why we became mothers in the first place. We have a gift that many women would love to have. To help you regroup, write down why you are grateful for being a mother. Do this everyday and especially at times where you begin to grow with impatience.
